How to Care for Your Mattress
Mattress care begins with the maker’s instructions. Foam, latex, hybrid and spring constructions can have different requirements, particularly around moisture and handling. Keep the routine simple and avoid treatments that leave the mattress wet inside.

Use the right support and protector
Follow the mattress manufacturer’s requirements for the bed base and support. A suitable washable protector can help manage everyday spills and soil at the surface without changing the mattress’s intended use.
Clean the protector according to its own label and replace it if damaged. A protector does not eliminate the need to check the mattress for moisture or condition changes.
Keep bedding on a regular care routine
Wash sheets and other bedding according to their fabric instructions. When changing them, inspect the mattress surface and allow appropriate airing as recommended. Keep food and drinks away if spills have been a recurring issue.
Rotate only when the manufacturer advises it. Do not flip a one-sided mattress simply because an older mattress-care checklist recommends flipping every model.
Vacuum only where the instructions allow
Use a clean, appropriate upholstery attachment and gentle handling if vacuuming is permitted. Avoid snagging seams, damaging the cover or applying vigorous brushing to an unfamiliar fabric.
Do not remove a mattress cover unless the manufacturer expressly says it is removable and washable. A zipper alone is not permission to take the cover off.
Treat spills conservatively
Blot fresh liquid with clean absorbent material. Avoid soaking, strong household mixtures and attempts to hide an odor with fragrance. Moisture can remain inside even when the outer surface feels less damp.
Follow the maker’s spot-care instructions and allow the mattress to dry fully before replacing the protector and bedding. If significant moisture has entered the construction, seek advice rather than enclosing it.
